PRESS STATEMENT
ALTERCATION BETWEEN A MILITARY POLICE SOLDIER AND TRAFFIC POLICE OFFICER
We have been made aware of the incident that happened on Monday 9- May 2022 in which a UPDF Military Poke soldier who was part of others in vehicle Reg. No. H4DF B02 was involved in a scuffle with a Traffic Police Officer around Mukwano Mall, Kampala.
The incident is regrettable and we extend our regrets to the affected persons, the traffic department and Uganda Police in general. Investigations to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident have commenced and the findings will guide our next course of action.
The actions of this soldier are reprehensible and are not representative of UPDF as an institution that is known for its discipline and being a people’s army.
UPDF reiterates its commitment to the rule of law as guided by the Constitution and the UPDF Code of Conduct.
