The Parliament of Uganda has today come out to recognize the services rendered by the former speaker of Parliament Rt honorable Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga. She served in the position of Uganda speaker of parliament for two consecutive terms.

Rebecca Kadaga was the first woman to be elected speaker of the Uganda parliament. For close to a decade prior to her election as speaker of parliament; she served as the Deputy speaker for 10 years. She is one of the longest-serving legislators in the parliament of Uganda; having joined the August house in 1989.

 

Though the former speaker has got a number of stars and accolades to her name; today the parliament of Uganda was mainly appreciating her services as speaker of the parliament of Uganda.

Among her achievements include but are not limited to an increase in private member bills, the introduction of the gender, and equality compliance certificate, car park for legislators, recognition of special interest groups among several other achievements.
