Rwanda one of the countries in the East African community had closed its borders with most of its neighbors due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Upon rumors of Uganda undergoing a second lockdown in June; Rwanda stopped all flights that were coming from Uganda with strict restrictions on passengers that had been to Uganda in the last 10 days.

According to Nation Breaking News; Kigali will undergo a 10-day total lockdown effective 17th July 2021. With Kigali as the main international gateway into Rwanda; the total Lockdown of Rwanda’s capital poses a threat to most of the people that had scheduled their travels around Rwanda between July 17th and 26th July 2021

Rwanda is grappling with a third wave of Covid-19. The land of a thousand hills was also to host the Commonwealth heads of government meeting (CHOGM) this very year but was postponed due to the pandemic earlier in the year.
