The first son Muhoozi Kainerugaba has taken it to his Twitter account to declare his interest in taking over from his father Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. “My father, President Kaguta Museveni, told me as a young child ‘You will only be as great as me if you are willing to suffer for Uganda as I have!’ Ugandans will make their decision if I have walked in his footsteps” said general Muhoozi in a Tweet today morning.

The above statement has attracted mixed reactions. Some Muhoozi fanatics came out to declare their support, others condemned it for being an anarchy-inspired decision while others said that as long as it is a democracy, he must be given a chance to stand and let the public make the choice.

Unfortunately due to the common narrative of election malpractice in Uganda; many Ugandans believe his participation voids the elections from being free and fair. This is because of his influence in the army well known for playing a security role during the elections.
