5 Dead and 15 Severely Injured in Masaka Road Accident

After several accidents that used to happen on this road last years, there have been some moment of relief and the accident had reduced due to the operation (Fika Salama) which was done by the traffic police to cub careless driving on this road.

But yesterday an accident happened on this road and left 5 people affirmed dead and 15 seriously injured in an accident that happened at Kabira town on the Kampala – Masaka Highway.

The accident involved a suburbanite Tax Registration Number UAX 751M that was going to Kyotera in the District of Rakai and a Mitsubishi Pajero Registration Number UAQ 770S, that was going to Kampala.

those who died in the accident were identified as Michael Ssebunnya (a Tax driver), Maria Nankinga, Robert Bwanika and other two who did not have any identification document.

In the mean time, 3 kids are the 15 that were critically injured and those who were injured in the accident were rushed to Mulago Referral Hospital for medical help.
Ahmed Kimera Sseguya, the Mpigi District Police Commander, ascribed the accident to heedless driving and speeding.

“Our preparatory investigation reveals that all problems came after the careless driving of the Pajero driver and people ought to learn to follow road signs on the grounds that if he had read climbing lane signage, this accident wouldn’t have happened,” he said.
