The Tourism industry in Uganda was the leading foreign exchange earner before the Covid-19 pandemic racking in over 5 Trillion Uganda shillings every year. In a country with an annual budget of around 45 trillion Uganda shillings, the pinch in the tours and travel industry will easily be felt.

During an interview with NTV Uganda; Amos Wekesa the proprietor of Great Lakes Safaris raised his disappointment over the bad PR by the ministry of health during an interview with CNN and BBC. He says compared to the UK itself, Uganda is not badly off in regard to the Covid-19 situation to end up on the UK travel Red-list.

He called upon the government to engage with the United Kingdom over the travel ban just like Kenya has done. He suspects that all the travel bans including but not limited to Rwanda, Emirates among others are rooted in the minister’s interview with CNN and BBC.
