In a bid to support conservation initiatives, enhance visitor experiences, and ensure the sustainability of the Masai Mara National Reserve, new tariff adjustments for 2024 have been introduced. These alterations, denominated in USD, encompass various aspects of the visitor journey, ranging from entrance fees to camping and supplementary activities.

Entrance Fees

Commencing January 1, 2024, non-resident adults entering the reserve will be subject to a daily fee of USD 100 until June 30, 2024. Subsequently, from July 1, 2024, onwards, the fee will rise to USD 200 per day. Children, irrespective of the time of the year, will incur a daily charge of USD 50. Visitors need to note that these revised rates will apply to all individuals entering the Masai Mara National Reserve, impacting both confirmed and tentative bookings.

Camping Fees

For those choosing to camp in the Masai Mara in 2024, additional fees apply. These fees are categorized based on residency status and camping type:

  • Non-Residents:

    • Public Campsite: USD 30 per day
    • Private Campsite: USD 40 per day
    • Children & Students: USD 20 per day
  • East African Residents:

    • Public Campsite: KES 1,000 per day
    • Private Campsite: KES 1,500 per day
    • Children & Students: KES 200 per day
  • East African Citizens:

    • Public Campsite: KES 1,000 per day
    • Private Campsite: KES 1,500 per day
    • Children & Students: KES 200 per day

It’s important to highlight that private campsites necessitate an additional booking fee of KES 10,000.

Vehicle Entrance Fees

For visitors driving into the Masai Mara National Reserve in 2024, the vehicle entry fees are as follows:

  • 6-12 Seats: USD 1,000
  • 13-24 Seats: USD 3,000
  • 24-44 Seats: USD 4,000
  • 45 Seats and above: USD 5,000
  • Less than 6 Seats: USD 400

Trucks:

  • 1-3 Tons: USD 700
  • 4-7 Tons: USD 2,500
  • 8 Tons and Above: USD 3,500

Ranger Fees

For activities requiring the presence of park rangers, the fees for 2024 are as follows:

  • Game Drive (more than 6 hours): USD 3,000
  • Game Drive (less than 6 hours): USD 1,500
  • Full Night Camp Security: USD 4,000

Private campers intending to stay overnight must hire at least two park rangers for night-time security.

Other Activities Fees

Additional activities within the reserve have their tariff structure:

  • Hot Air Balloon Tour (Per person): USD 50 (Adult) / USD 20 (Child)
  • Horseback Riding (Per Horse Per Day): USD 1,500
  • Annual Research Permits (Non-Resident): USD 400

These new tariffs for 2024 signify a substantial adjustment in the cost structure for experiencing the wonders of the Masai Mara National Reserve. Visitors are encouraged to plan accordingly and take note of these changes to ensure a seamless and enjoyable safari experience while contributing to the conservation and maintenance of this iconic wildlife sanctuary.
