Talking about things done successfully and expectations in the tourism industry, Kasaija said that there is a need to harness tourism, which is a salary earner for the nation.

The country will be promoted and marketed as a world-class travel destination, with the Source of the Nile to be developed into a Tourism site, minister of finance, Matia Kasaija has said. The minister said in a budget speech he read on behalf of the Uganda President.

“This will supplement the Uganda Wildlife Authority’s obtaining of three-speed boats, 5 buses, and the improvement of tourism facilities including eateries and shopping areas.”

He said that furthermore the Uganda Wildlife Research and Tourism Institute and the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute will be restored and prepared to build hospitality skills.

Worldwide tourist standards, he stated, will likewise be upgraded with the continued classification of accommodation facilities and restaurants. So far over 60 hotels have been classified, he said.

The minister noticed that the tourism industry has grown quickly, with Uganda ranked as the fourth world’s best tourism destination incorporating the best in Africa by ‘Rough Guides’ last year.
