Presidential Address Regarding Corona Virus
The world has been in panic after the outbreak of COVID 19 that has seen the death of 10,000 people all over the world without proven medication. In the same spirit, the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has made a few statements on how activities in highly concentrated places will follow with effect from today.
Schools and Tertiary institutions
The president has advised that from effect from Friday 20th March at midday, all schools are called forth to close for 30 days.
Religious Gathering
All religious gatherings have been called off for 30 days effective from 18th March 2020. Ugandans have been advised to pray from home. Religious leaders can use radio stations and TVs to continue preaching. He quoted the move by Pope Francis who abandoned his customary preaching at St peters square and took on preaching through the television.
Weddings and Introductions
All weddings have been called off for 32 days from today with effect from 18th March 2020
Burials
All burials will be conducted only by family members
Ugandans Coming back from Abroad
Ugandans coming back from abroad will not be stopped, but they will be placed under quarantine at their own cost.
Foreigners
Foreigners going out cannot be stopped from doing so either provided they are not coming back within
32 days.
Those from category one countries, are not allowed to come to Uganda for the next 32 days.
