The pearl of Africa made its presence known in the 2022 commonwealth games by winning three gold medals. Two of the three gold medals were won by Jacob Kiplimo in the 10,000 meters and 5,000 meters respectively. He was able to set a new world record in 10,000 meters edging the recent record by Joshua Cheptegei.

Even though many Ugandans had hope in Joshua Chetegei, he was not able to feature in the competitions due to a hamstring injury.

On 30th July, Victor Kiplangat became the first Ugandan to win the 42km marathon in the commonwealth games. After earning Uganda the first medal in the 2022 commonwealth games, Jacob Kiplomo joined and ended the gold list for Uganda.

The other two medals were the bronze by Peruth Chemutai who failed to compete for the first two top slots when she tripped and fell thus an injury that left her limping. The final bronze was from the lightweight Ugandan female boxer Teddy Nakimuli.
