Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, 30, has been handed a four-year ban following a positive doping test. The test was conducted after Juventus’ 3-0 victory over Bologna at the beginning of the Italian Serie A season, despite Pogba being on the bench during the match. The French international was found to have an elevated testosterone level, leading to his suspension. The B sample also confirmed the positive result.
Pogba appeared before Italy’s Anti-Doping Court in January, where the public prosecutor called for a four-year ban. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the ban has now been enforced. It is alleged that Pogba obtained a supplement from the USA, recommended by a personal doctor and friend. Although the substance is legal in the USA, it is prohibited in Italy under current doping regulations. Pogba reportedly took the drug without consulting Juventus doctors.
Pogba’s contract with Juventus runs until 2026, and it remains uncertain whether he will return after serving the suspension.
