Tragic Incident at Skyz Hotel: Indian National Jumps to His Death
Police in Kampala are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Shukla Chiragkumar, a 35-year-old Indian national who tragically fell from the fourth floor of Skyz Hotel in Naguru.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Chiragkumar allegedly fell in front of the hotel entrance, resulting in a broken arm. Despite the prompt actions of the hotel staff, who rushed him to UMC Bukoto, Chiragkumar was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Chiragkumar had checked into room 1402 with an unidentified woman, with whom he spent the night. The hotel’s proprietor, Patrick Bitature, confirmed that Chiragkumar was a first-time guest at the establishment.
“The concerned person was a first-time guest who checked in last night. We have no idea what triggered him to jump but suspect depression or mental illness. I just want to extend my sympathy and condolences to his family and friends,” Bitature stated.
Bitature also noted that the hotel staff could not have anticipated such an incident, highlighting the challenges of identifying mental health issues in guests.
Chiragkumar’s body has been transported to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations continue. This incident follows closely on the heels of another tragic event in Kampala, where prominent digital marketer John Babirukamu also died by jumping from his apartment last Friday.
The police urge anyone with relevant information to come forward as they work to uncover the full details of Chiragkumar’s death. This tragic event underscores the need for increased awareness and support for mental health issues in the community
