The Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Uganda, Martin Okoth Ochola, has officially handed over the reins to his deputy, Major General Geoffrey Katsigazi Tumusiime, as he concludes his six-year term in office. The transition of leadership occurred today in a ceremony attended by high-ranking officials and members of the police force.
Inspector General Ochola, who has served as the head of the Uganda Police Force since his appointment in 2018, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the force and highlighted the accomplishments achieved during his tenure.
His tenure has been marked with several successes as well as regrettable stories including the November massacre that saw the army in partnership with Uganda police kill over 30 years during the presidential campaigns that saw Bobi Wine lose to HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
