Vodafone Uganda has declared that it will hold its premier Information and Communication Technology (ICT) strengthening forum named “Vodafone PowerTalks” in Kampala, on Friday April 24, 2015.
Vodafone PowerTalks is an initiative by Vodafone Uganda aimed at bringing together key players in the ICT ecosystem to share knowledge and experience on the transformative force of ICT.
Declaring the first in a series of events today, Vodafone Uganda’s new Chief Executive Officer, Allan Richardson said that the forum would reclassify the way owners of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Uganda view and interact with the internet.
“This is a purposeful effort to create a more internet “literate” Uganda by proactively engaging, challenging, educating entrepreneurs on the transformative power of the internet as well differentiating our offering,” he said.
“Vodafone is passionate about people and what technology can work for them. In that forum this forum is critical to engage and learn about best practices in ICT and how these can be used to empower businesses in getting to be more effective, efficient and internationally competitive,” he added.
Richardson further noticed that Uganda exists in a digital generation where the internet has showed itself as a very powerful tool that has the ability to change not only the way we communicate but also do business.
“The internet has transformed the world into a global village and has turned into the universal source of information for billions of people, at home, at school, and at work. It’s therefore vital that every Ugandan embraces the internet. This forum is designed to motivate majority of Ugandans to use the internet and related technologies to power their business to the nest level of development.”
The forum is expected to draw in more than 200 SME entrepreneurs, chiefs and ICT enthusiasts from industries including; telecoms, banking, education, media, health, engineering and medicine.
The theme of the premiere forum is ICT: A World of Endless Possibilities For Your Business. Vodafone has lined up a board of thought leaders from different business sectors.
“I am looking forward to sharing thoughts and experience with the various audience at the forum. I believe this is an awesome opportunity for every one of us to share and learn about the new digital era and how technology changes numerous businesses,” Michael Niyitegeka Vice Chairman ICT Association of Uganda who will be the moderator at the event said.
