Uganda participated in a brutal war in the Democratic Republic of Congo between 1998 and 2003. The Uganda people’s defense forces were accused of looting, rape among several other unacceptable practices that in compensation the Democratic Republic of Congo required Uganda to pay $11 billion in reparations.
The case that has been on for a couple of years now came to an end on the 9th of February after the United nations courts passed a ruling requiring Uganda to pay the democratic republic of Congo $325 million in reparations. Below are the full details of the ruling.

DRC versus Uganda
“The total amount of compensation awarded to the DRC is US$325,000,000.
This global sum includes US$225,000,000 for damage to persons, US$40,000,000 for damage to property, and US$60,000,000 for damage related to natural resources.
The total sum is to be paid in annual installments of US$65,000,000, due on 1st September of each year, from 2022 to 2026.
The Court decides that, should payment be delayed, post-judgment interest at an annual rate of 6 percent on each installment will accrue on any overdue amount from the day which follows the day on which the installment was due.”
