Andrew Felix Kaweesi, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) has been shot dead by unknown gunmen outside his home.
Unknown shooters killed the AIGP, his driver Godfrey Wamewo and the bodyguard Kenneth Erau as they left his home at around 9:15am to work in his official vehicle, they were murdered in around 150 meters from his home in Kulambiro in a Kampala suburb.
Gen. Kale Kayihura the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has reached at the scene and investigations concerning the egregious act are on-going.
The public is grieving the demise of the AIGP. His neighbors have portrayed him as a decent person and have called for practical investigations.
“RIP my friend. You stood firm for the wellbeing of our country despite seemingly insurmountable opposition. Your power of verbalization was unequaled. We are bleeding,” the minister Frank Tumwebaze said.
Col Felix Kulaigye the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) member of parliament depicted the fallen AIGP as: “Extremely committed, intelligent cop. I have observed him to be a sharp intelligent cop.”
