As we continue say REST IN PEACE to the carousers who lost their lives in the Lake Victoria boat accident last Saturday, let us also join the Ugandan Hip Hop/ Luga Flow fraternity in grief following the untimely death of rapper Mulekwa Nampeera who passed on on Wednesday morning the 28th of November 2018 at Mulago Hospital. The news of Mulekwa’s death was confirmed by fellow rapper ST Nelly Sade through his Twitter account. Close people to fallen rapper told Chano8 that he succumbed to throat cancer which he apparently has been battling for 3 years.
Close sources further said that the cancer in Mulekwa was discovered in 2016. He was operated although some people were claiming it wasn’t cancer with some saying it was. Attached to a Hip Hop crew dubbed Abenganda Clan comprising of two other members Mukunja Rokym (RIP) and Dorcas Klose, Mulekwa was one of the local rappers who made Ugandan rap music so popular in and he inspired so many Luganda Flow (Luga Flow) rappers “We will miss him so much especially his family and us as Abenganda Clan I cannot focus now” Dorcas Klose from Abenganda Clan told Chano8 in an online chat. A screen shot captured from one of the late Mulekwa’s last music videos to the song ‘Abaana Bano’ Mulekwa was famously known for songs like ‘Kampala’, ‘Paapa’, ‘Byawongo’, ‘Abaana Bano, ‘Bukokola’, ‘Ebikolwa Byange’ among others which include those with fellow crew members. Mulekwa meaning orphan was born and raised in ghettos of Kawempe-Bwaise (a Kampala city suburb)
