Kidepo National Park Nominated in 2017 WTA

The park is found in the north eastern part of Uganda has been nominated in 2017 World Travel Awards (WTA) as Africa’s Leading National Park of the year.

The park is found in about 521 kilometers from Kampala the capital city of Uganda and about 665km from Entebbe International Airport, it occupies on 1,442 square kilometers of land dominated by grassland, rugged savanna, trees and two rivers (Kidepo and Narus).

The prestigious yearly awards perceive organizations in Africa that push the limits of magnificence in the tourism sector.

The Awards Gala will be held at Radisson Blu Hotel in Kigali, Rwanda on 11th October.

The Awards constitute a few classes including best; hotels, airlines, travel agencies, conference center, tour operators, national parks among others.

In the category of national park, Kidepo Valley National Park will go up against Kenya’s Masai Mara, Etosha national stop (Namibia), Serengeti National Park (Tanzania), Central Kalahari Game Reserve (Botswana) Kruger national park (South Africa).

The park is home to a variety of animal species including Congo lions, spotted hyenas, cheetahs, leopards, zebras, giraffes, elephants and over 500 species of bird.

In a statement discharged throughout the end of the week, World Travel Awords President, stated: “Arrangements for the Grand Tour 2017 are currently well in progress and we are particularly anticipating our debut in Rwanda.”

To vote in any category, you will need to sign up on World Travel Awards website and voting for African categories will be open on March 29 2017 and will end on August 21 2017
