It’s a contradiction and shame that we commemorate the murder of Archbishop Janan Luwum by Idi Amin when state security operatives torture Ugandans in this manner, today. Respect for human rights is the foundation for democracy and progress. pic.twitter.com/oMO0dA14e8

On Tuesday, the ministry of defence came out via its Twitter account to distance itself from the torture allegations
Having done a thorough check on all security agencies, it has been established that a one Mwesigwa Eric was not in the hands of any security agency. We advise him to go to the UHRC and report or the police so that we can commence intensive investigation. pic.twitter.com/ticHsZ7qmR

In response, the leader of the opposition in Uganda; Mathias Mpuuga shared his dissatisfaction with the following response
Whoever put out this tweet needs a thorough mental check and later on an intensive medical examination!! https://t.co/uFguc5eRlS

Here’s what Gen. Museveni’s thugs did to our comrade Mwesigwa Eric, who we’ve been looking for these past two weeks. They abducted him & tortured him asking what Bobi Wine and NUP are planning to do to “overthrow the government”. What a group of cold-hearted criminals!!! pic.twitter.com/DeWhQK9vOH

According to National Unity Platform president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, Mwesigwa Eric was kidnapped and tortured with the intent of the government finding out National Unity Platform’s next move to overthrow the government.
It is alleged that when Mwesigwa Eric failed to offer positive responses, he was burned with a hot flat iron on his chest.
The government of Uganda has continuously distanced itself from abduction and torture allegations. However, regardless of this continuous accusation from the opposition in Uganda and the government’s denial of the accusation, there is no single person has been brought to book for participating in the abductions.
