Yoweri Tibuhabura Museveni; the president of the Republic of Uganda was on Wednesday delighted to receive Uganda’s Olympic medalists at Kololo independence grounds. He awarded the medalists with luxurious cars and also promised a monthly stipend in appreciation for their performance during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Though there are some promises of reward to the previous medalists that have not seen fruition; the president this time around called out for the implementation of his earlier directives. He also promised to build houses for each gold medalist as well as their parents.
The three medalists were Joshua Cheptegei and Peruth Chemutai who scoped gold medals in 5,000 meters and 3,000 meters respectively. Joshua Cheptegei also won a silver medal in the 10,000 meters for men while Jacob Kiplimo won the bronze.
