Lewis Hamilton, the record 7-time formula one winner has been knighted today during a ceremony that was conducted by prince Charles. He was accompanied by his mother Carmen Lockhart who witnessed her son elevated to the status of “Sir” in England.

The formula one star has joined the ranks of Sir Jack Brabham, Sir Stirling Moss, and Sir Jackie Stewart who are all former Formula 1 stars. However, in this group, Lewis is the first formula one star to be knighted before his retirement.
