Events promoter Balaam Barugahare has formed an organization to help the elderly and named it “People Power”. He has vowed to take to court anyone else who uses the words “People Power” especially in Politics as he is the only one registered by law to use them.
Promoter Balaam is popularly known for organizing mass events in Uganda like musical concerts, social gatherings, and political rallies rather than for the current president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (NRM).
In Uganda recently, the entertainment industry has budded to the political world of the country ever since Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine a pop star took reigns as a member of parliament. Bobi wine’s popularity has gone from strength to strength and the ruling government has seen him as a real threat to their regime while also other entertainers have taken this opportunity to join what is called the most fruitful job in the “country politics”
Divisions have come up in the entertainment industry on political grounds where some of them have joined the Bobi Wine movement People power and others the ruling party NRM.
Balaam is one of those personalities who tag with the ruling government and he is said to have taken the course of registering the people power in order to subdue the works of Bobi Wine who use the slogan.
Reactions have been so sour on the social media platforms and most of the public vowing not to ever attend an event organized by Promoter Balaam.
