A 30-year-old Colombian student has been confirmed dead after an attack by a stray forest elephant in Kibale forest national park. The western Uganda-based national park is commonly referred to as the primate capital of Uganda. However, besides being a haven for the primates such as chimpanzees, the park is also home to forest elephants.

The student identified by the name of Sabastian Amaya was attached to the Ngogo chimpanzee project in Kibale forest national park. According to Mr. Twesige the Kibale forest national park warden; the students took different paths to return to their camp, unfortunately, Amaya didn’t make it to the camp, upon confirming Amaya’s absence, they went back to the forest only to Amaya dead.
