The four-time Uganda presidential aspirant and a three-time Forum for Democratic Change Presidential candidate; Colonel Kizza Besigye has come out to clear the air over the allegations that he was one of the beneficiaries of the money that is claimed to have come from President Museveni.
Dr. Kizza Besigye shared the facts of the story for purposes of clarity. He said that the money came from Nandala Mafabi who had convinced him that he could not deposit the money in his account or else the Uganda Revenue Authority would pounce on it. They delivered the money to Colonel Kizza Besigye’s residence courtesy of his driver who arrived around 10 pm in the night.
After suspecting that the money might end up landing him in trouble; he asked a favor from his neighbor to help him keep the money. Four months later (January 2021); a team from FDC came to pick up the money. However, for purposes of acknowledging receipt, he sent the money to his money at Total Nsambya which required the team from the FDC to counter-sign upon the receipt of the money.
Dr. Besigye said he didn’t take any money from the 300 million Uganda shillings. Rather due to the predicted inflation after the election, the money had been converted to USD to avoid such a loss unfortunately, the Uganda shilling instead gained more value causing a loss of Ugx 600.000
All the money of 299,400,000 Ugx was received. Dr. Besigye said that he is also raeady to pay the Ugx 600,000. To confirm the allegations; he pointed out the fact that Nandala and the Amuriat are already in bed with the government.
