4 People Drown on Lake Victoria

4 people have been affirmed dead after a motorboat conveying eight people inverted on Lake Victoria this evening.

According to Lameck Kigozi the Spokesperson of Sezibwa Regional Police, the boat was going to Buvuma from Nakalanga in Maguge district.

“3 of the 4 bodies of those who died in the accident have of now been recovered though the marine police is working all day all night to find the other missing body,” the area police mouthpiece told Kampala Sun News on phone.

The deceased were identified as Waiswa Mathias, 21, Tenwya Noah, 24, all from Mayuge and Ivan Malaga, 27 from Buyende though the particulars of the missing person are still scanty.

It is said that, the victims were going to sell stuffs in Katuba market in Buvuma market and we presume the motorboat was blown a tide because of the winds winds on the lake bringing about the accident.

Eye witness said that, named Rosemary Athieno, Ojame Othieno, Rosemary Athieno plus a10 months old baby as the survivors of the accident.

About 30 individuals from a village football team and their fans drowned in December last year when the boat overturned on Lake Albert during the party.

Some people was coming back from Buliisa district after a friendly match on Christmas day in Hoima district before their boat overturned yet as indicated by police, most of them were drunk at the time of accident.
